
PRINCIPAL Liam O’Mahoney
Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB) appointed Liam O’Mahoney to the position of Principal of Mungret Community College in February 2017.
Mr O’Mahoney is past Principal of St. John Bosco Community College, Kildysart, Co. Clare, where he has played a significant role in developing the school. Liam has 32 years teaching experience – initially in Tarbert Comprehensive and then in Castletroy College where he gained broad experience in school management, a graduate of NUI Maynooth, has an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree; Honours H. Dip.; Graduate Diploma in Educational Mentoring; Honours Certificate in Educational Leadership and Management and an Honours Masters of Education. He has a keen passion for Education and Sport. Mr O’Mahoney is also past Chair of the Munster and Limerick Post Primary Schools GAA Committee.

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL Helen Ryan
Helen Ryan is a Graduate of the University of Limerick and has a first class Honours Degree in Science Education and Masters in Education Leadershipp. She has experience of teaching and leading learning both in Dublin and in Limerick and was appointed deputy principal in Mungret Community College in 2017. Helen gained great experience in leadership in education in Castletroy College, where she played a key role in developing teaching and learning along with working in middle leadership as Special Education Needs Coordinator and Yearhead.

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL Eanna Kennedy
Eanna Kennedy is a graduate of the University of Limerick where he achieved a first class honours degree in Mathematics and Physical Education. In addition he has completed a Masters in Educational Leadership through UL. Eanna previously gained middle leadership experience in the UK prior to joining Mungret when it opened in 2017. Prior to commencing the role of Deputy Principal in 2023, Eanna worked as a Mathematics teacher along with middle leadership roles including yearhead, transition year coordinator and state examinations secretary.

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL Justin O'Connor
Justin O’Connor graduated from University College Cork, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts (Joint Honours), Higher Diploma in Education, Masters in Education, and Graduate Certificate in Trauma-Informed Care. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a Higher Diploma in Psychology. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership & Management from Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. He is a graduate of the University of Limerick with a Graduate Diploma in Mathematics and a Masters of Arts in Guidance Counselling & Lifespan Development. He is particularly interested in workplace coaching and has acquired additional qualification specialising in Educational Leadership Coaching. Justin acquired significant experience in the area of assessment through working for a decade with the State Examinations Commission in the roles of Assistant and later Advising Examiner. Early in his career he was promoted to a middle leadership role in the UK where his interest in educational leadership began. He pursued opportunities in Hazelwood College in the areas of School Self-Evaluation, School Improvement Planning, and literacy. Since his appointment to Mungret Community College in 2017 as a teacher of English he has had middle leadership roles including: Coordinator of our Leading Learning, Teaching, and Assessment team; Coordinator of our Digital Learning team; SSE and SIP; and, as a Yearhead.
