On the 20th of January, Sarah Hegarty the Green School’s officer, visited our school again, this time to give a bike maintenance workshop to the school’s #andshecycles ambassadors and also other cyclists in MCC, all keen to hone their skills.
Organised by Ms. Tierney and Ms. Murphy, this class was exciting and practical, teaching us skills we won’t forget!
We got to learn how to take care of our bikes, clean them and pump up tires for real-life situations. Skills for cycling we can develop for our upcoming school events (and indeed, life!). We were shown and practiced certain skills and tasks to do with your bike. We got to learn how to take care of our bikes in ways I would’ve never thought of. We thought it was a great interactive way to learn about our bikes. A real hands-on experience: removing tubes from bike wheels and patching punctures!
These skills are very useful to have and could help us a lot if we ever get into any problems with our bikes. Now we can fix them ourselves and not have to worry about bringing our bikes into a repair shop.
The ladies showed us all the tips and tricks on how to fix our bikes and were so helpful and the skills I learnt will be very useful for me in the future.
2nd-year cyclists.
